START TIME:
8:00 AM on Sunday November 19, 2023
RACE LOCATION:
Founder’s Park in Corporate Woods
Exact location is across, of Building 40, 9401 Indian Creek Trail, Overland Park, KS 66210
MARATHON COURSE:
The Gobbler Grind Marathon is an official Boston Marathon Qualifying Course. This Marathon also qualifies for the 50 States Marathon Club and the Marathon Maniacs Club.
NEW MARATHON AND HALF MARATHON COURSE — Due to construction on HWY 69, the Indian Creek Trail underneath it has been temporarily closed. Consequently, we have made adjustments to our course, shifting it to the east as an out-and-back route on the Indian Creek Trail, rather than the westbound route from 2022. Additionally, we’ve simplified the route by including just one street loop around Corporate Woods, compared to the two loops used last year.
Course Details:
- The half marathon and marathon participants will follow the same route for the initial 13 miles. They will complete one street loop within Corporate Woods to create some space before transitioning onto the Indian Creek Trail, heading east. The turnaround point will be just past mile 8, south of the tunnel under I-435, east of Roe Ave. After reaching this point, participants will return to Corporate Woods, where the half marathon will conclude.
- For marathon runners, the course includes a 3-mile out-and-back section on the western part of the Indian Creek Trail, extending to Indian Valley Park, just before the closed trail section. After completing this section, marathoners will return to the eastern part of the Indian Creek Trail for one final out-and-back segment before finishing back in Corporate Woods.
Both courses offer stunning scenic views and maintain the spirit of Gobbler Grind’s 30th edition! Be prepared to enjoy a delightful street course and explore Johnson County’s most iconic paved creek trail.
